Project KA2- ‘‘School Companies“ 3rd short-term student exchange in Stralsund, Germany

Written by Martina Westpha

Within the framework of the Global Entrepreneurship Week Germany the 3rd short-term student exchange (learning/teaching/training activities) took place from 13. November 2017 to 17. November 2017. Host of the meeting was the in business specialized secondary school (Fachgymnasium) Stralsund of Regionales Berufliches Bildungszentrum des Landkreises Vorpommern-Rügen (RBB). Students and teachers from RBB received 19 students and 7 teachers from Austria, Poland and Romania.

After the assistant director, Anka Metzner, welcomed the visitors and introduced our school, some of our students provided a guided tour through the school. Then teambuilding activities were part of the day as well as a workshop for brand development and a creativity workshop.

On 14. November 24 students and 9 teachers started the day with a visit at Fieberglasmanufaktur Masson-Waber in Stralsund, where Mrs. Susanne Masson-Waber led through her firm with great enthusiasm. The 2010 founded firm employs 25 persons and produces fibreglass furniture especially for Austria and Germany and decorative articles of fiberglass that are exported in 37 countries. During the tour one could learn about the exemplary working atmosphere provided through the well-established company that focuses on customer orientation, quality and flexibility.

When visiting Ostseeschmuck Schaumnufaktur in Ribnitz-Dammgarten later that day students faced another story of success. After an interesting tour, students could smooth amber and produce their own necklace.

Another highlight of that day was visiting the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern with a guided tour and an informal chat with Christin von Alwörden, a Member of Parliament of CDU. Interesting for the students was that Mrs. von Alwörden attended the Fachgymnasium of RBB in Stralsund before starting her political carrier.

On Wednesday and Thursday morning students attended a workshop for creative product development with graphics, printing techniques and typesetting at Jugendkunstschule where they produced a small cookbook. For this they worked together in small international teams on different tasks and with different techniques on the recipies each country contributed for the book. In the end there was a cookbook with international menus made from all of the students together. Each student got their own copy.

In the afternoon students and teachers visited the old city of Stralsund, the Church Marienkirche and the world heritage museum. On Thursday there was a round trip on the Isle of Rügen through the towns Puttbus and Binz to the Königsstuhl which is famous because of Casper David Friedrichs paintings.

On the last day the meeting closed with evaluation and handing the certificates and last but not least a collective visit of the Meeresmuseum Stralsund.
